• Why the name AvantGeek?
Avant-Garde fashion is characterized by experimental and innovative approaches. My own work is made of unconventional materials and often inspired by popular fiction, thus: AvantGeek.

• Can I purchase a dress or costume from you?
I do not currently offer sales or commissions, but I am open to sponsorships and company contracts. If you are reaching out on behalf of a company or organization, please send an email to: avantgeekart@gmail.com

• Do you offer tutorials or have videos on your process? 
Yes! I post "edutainment" style videos that show how I make my costumes on YouTube! 

• Where can I purchase art or support your work?
I offer a limited selection of art prints, cards, and stickers on Etsy. If you'd like to receive cards and stickers throughout the year, have your name appear in my videos, or just want to donate: visit my Patreon! 

• Is costume design your profession?
It was a part-time job since 2015, but as of July 2019, your support on Patreon has made it possible to turn this into my full-time job!

• What happens to your costumes after you make them?
My favorites are put in storage to wear another day. Costumes made for contests and shows are sometimes auctioned off, used in art displays, or re-purposed for another costume. The more fragile dresses (paper, paint) eventually fall apart.

• Who is that fabulous black cat in your photos?
He's @Edgar_the_voidcat on Instagram. Aka: Eddie, Edard, Gar, Garbear, Bearbear, Little Bear, Edgar The Eternal, and many other names he has not yet told us.
